Sportano welcomes EBRD as a shareholder

Share
Sportano.pl has gone from local challenger to a European sports platform in four years. EBRD has just joined as a shareholder.

Our Investment

We were Sportano’s first institutional investor, backing the company in July 2024 and again a year later. It was a conviction call on two things: the rise of vertical specialists in e-commerce, and a founder who had already built a category leader once before.

The Progress

The progress since then speaks for itself. Sportano now sells in 13 European markets, with foreign sales above 50% of the business. Revenue passed PLN 480m in 2025, and the first half of 2026 brought the company’s first net profit — growth and profitability at the same time, which is rare in this sector.

Beyond Capital

Our role went beyond capital. Over the past two years we worked alongside the team as the business matured into a company ready for a partner of EBRD’s calibre. Their entry confirms both what has been achieved so far and the scale of the opportunity ahead.

It also reflects how we invest: as a minority partner to ambitious founders who want to scale internationally without giving up control of their business.

Congratulations to Marcin Grzymkowski and the entire Sportano team.
